A graphic artist created a logo for me using Illustrator. However, when I open the eps file in Photoshop, the colors are not correct. I had specified to him the CMYK values of the shade of brown, yet when I open the eps file in Photoshop and sample the brown, it is not the values I specified.

Am I doing something wrong? How do I correct this?
Thank you in advance.

hello

theres a difference between how illustrator and photoshop interpret colours (and line widths as well) so dont think thers anything you can do there

maybe try this plugin

though its mainly for photos, it might help

also what version are you using? in 7 theres a prompt that will ask if you want to use the existing colour configuration for the file, or discard it and use the photoshop default configuration

good luck with it

If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving isn't for you.

Have you got Illustrator? If so, you should open it and check a few things:

1: File > Document Color Mode > CMYK. It's possible he might be working in RGB mode. If he enters CMYK values in this mode, they'll be converted internally to RGB, giving incorrect values. If this is the case, change it back to CMYK, and check the colors again. You'll have to change them in Illustrator before re-importing into Photoshop.

2: Color Settings: Make sure Illustrator and Photoshop are using the same color profiles, or turn off color management completely in both apps.

3: Integers: Illustrator can specify colors like 4.9% Cyan, whereas Photoshop will round it to a whole number like 5% Cyan. Make sure Illustrator is using whole numbers.

There's probably lots more possibilities. You could try providing a link to the Illustrator file if you're still having trouble, and one of us will have a look.
