when someone fills out a form on our website how can I change the cgi script to to display something in the "from" field in the email they recieve other than () ?
 
I guess I meant to ask if I can put it in the <input type= to make it say something in the from field in the email
 
it is form.pl I don't have the actual script it is default on my host and I just point my forms to it but it is the form.pl
The following is the info from my host:
The action of your form needs to point towards this script, and the method must be POST in capital letters. FormMail offers many new ways to code your form to tailor the resulting HTML page and the way the script performs. Below is a list of form fields you can use and how to implement them.
An example usage would be:

This will result in the contents of your form being emailed to the user specified in the recipient field. This is the simplist, and most basic way to use the formmail.pl script.
 
You won't be able to edit the 'from:' on the HTML side. You will need direct access to the script.
Most likely the formail.pl is checking user input.

when you look at it you will see an email inbox and if you look at the email that is circled in red look at the "Who" it just shows () I called my hosting company and he said I can add Optional Form Fields
So do you know of and Optional Form Fields that I could add would change that () in saying something different? All I want it to say is "Request for Quote
 
I just tried that and it just shows up in the body of the email
 
I called my hosting company and they said I can, after all, use my own script.
If I use the formmail.pl from Matts script archive how would I edit it?

I cannot remember the parts of this script to change to make it work in addition to the previous post that shows how to make the from field editable can you also help me change the parts of this script that make it work with my forms?

Ok I put in the part of the script print MAIL "From: Request for Quote <$Config{'email'}>\n"; and the recipient still gets a () in the from part of their inbox :(
