Any ideas on how to configure Adobe Acrobat or MS IE4 to allow a save of the PDF file to hard drive vis-a-vis printing out the same?

Assuming that you have Acrobat Exchange, you can save a pdf file that you are viewing in a browser to your hard-drive. If you are not viewing a pdf file, you can save any webpage as a pdf by "printing" it in the same manner as with any other application.
If you simply have the free Acrobat Reader, then you will need to purchase Acrobat in order to create/save pdf files.
I hope I understood your question correctly and was able to help.
