Hi all,
As part of our EDI implementation, we want to provide X12 PO Acknowledgement documents (855).
We're having an internal discussion/argument about the "frequency" at which such document should be sent after receiving a PO (850).
Some team members are of the opinion that there should be only one PO ACK sent, and then the customer is to be informed of updates to shipments through the Advanced Shipping Notice (856).
Others are of the opinion that we should send an initial 855, indicating the availability/status of each order item at the time of receiving the order, and then additional 855's as the status of back-order items changes.
In the case where the 2nd scenario is the one that is typically implemented, how do you communicate the changes? Do you indicate "deltas", or do you send an updated snapshot of the current situation? What I mean is that if the available qty of an item goes from 5,000 to 10,000, with the initial 855 indicating an available qty of 5,000, should we indicate the new available qty of 10,000, or a delta of 5,000?
Any insight into this is welcome.
Thanks
