I have just had to create a script using php that makes an xml file that will be included in a website.
It was a majot pain having to go through all the French special characters and using php's preg_replace to put the html codes in.
Is there a simple way so xml will accept these special characters without complaining? I don't want to get to the situation where if another french character appears in the data I am puting in the xml I have to recode for that too.
I read that using a different encoding should do it, but when I changed from UTF-8 to UTF-16 as I read it just brought up an error saying I can't (can't remember the exact error, but this was viewing it in IE6 - English version).
Thanks,
Richard
