every time i try to place a document INDESIGN FREEZES. mem usage in taskmanager goes up to 89000K. What could be wrong?

What kind of documents are you placing?

Anything cound be wrong: insufficient memory, unsuitable operating system, unpatched version of InDesign...

the proble is, i don't even come to choose a file. whenever i push "place" INDESIGN FREEZES.

What amount of RAM, what OS, what version of InDesign?

Have you tried any basic troubleshooting like uninstalling and then reinstalling InDesign? Did it always do this? When did this start?

Clearly the program is not behaving as it should. You are giving very little info for anyone to work with.

i've got 1054 MB RAM. working with CS2. no it didn't always cause this trouble. it's been 2 weeks. i didn't change anything in the preferences. it might be a failed shortcut.

Prefs can go bad without making any changes, especially if you have a crash or something - like stalling.

I work on Mac so don't know how to trash PC prefs, but search this forum for how to do that. If that fails, try a reinstall

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

i tried reinstalling, without success?
