Freeze in 'design'

Ver 9.7 Win 98. Two linked databases - membership plus donations - 10,000 records on one, 20,000 on the other.
When altering the contents of a form letter - I go to design and the application freezes, half the page appears in design mode, and a re-boot is needed to unlock. It does not happen every time, and I cannot re-create when using my laptop on which I put the application together. Have updated to 9.7 from earlier version to try unsuccesfully to resolve. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Form letters often get corrupted. It's been a problem in all versions since 1996! Delete the form letter at the first sign of trouble. In very bad cases they can corrupt the whole apr. Never save an apr on a form letter view just in case.

My advice is to use a regular form and textboxes or a report view for multipage letters.

Paul - Thank you for that info. In one respect I'm glad it is a known problem. I'll have a look at your alternatives - not ones I have tried before.
