Freehand files do not convert to InDesign. They (when saved as EPS or any other compatible image format) can be placed in an InDesign layout document. Placed images cannot be edited.

Why is everyone in this forum responding to me as picklefish?
I just did a little experiment & exported a Freehand MX file as an illustrator 5 file and imported it into InDesign (ai 7 resulted in an error). You would have to run some tests to make sure the colours separated properly. The file I imported is not editable but this method would solve a few problems for Freehand users if it imports properly.
