Hi...
had toyed with using FreeBSD and SAMBA as the domain controller for work. Had a UNIX guy help me with the install and config...
Works fine, however, I would like to use a windows based solution...
I got the eval version of exchange server, which incidentally includes w2k3 server. If all goes well with the eval software, I will have the boss cut a check for the full version...
I would like to know how I can keep the settings from the current PDC or transfer them to the W2k3 box.
roaming profiles, user directories, favourites, etc...
I tried making the w2k3 box a backup, but it says it cannot find an active directory from which to back up (paraphrasing)
The SAMBA server is controlling a domain called MU, two characters, that's it...
w2k3 seems to want a fully qualified domain name...
is it possible to have it become the PDC for the domain "MU" so as not to cause confusion and such amongst users?
