I have installed, from source, SAMBA 3.0.20b on a FreeBSD 6.0 server. And, I am not able to set the users in the smbpasswd file to have a null password. I receive a message stating the password has been reset for the user, but when I check the smbpasswd file, I do not find the typical NO PASSWORDXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX when a password has been set to null.

This is happening on both a fresh install and an upgrade from 3.0.11. No error messages are logged and null passwords = YES is set in smb.conf.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.
