Free VMWare - connecting to network

I am trying to set up the free vm-ware browser appliance (ubuntu). I am having trouble getting it connected to our network.

The host is a windows XP machine. I would like it to share my current connection (and not appear on the network as a separate machine).

I can ping the host from the vmware server, and vice versa. I cannot get to the internet from vmware. Any ideas? Thanks.
