FREE tool to synchronize MySQL and MS Access (or other ODBC sources)?

Hello all,

I'm hoping to find a free tool that will enable us to synchronize an Access database(s) with MySQL or PostGre. We have to use Access b/c our GIS software will only directly edit data stored in Access or flat files. But I'm also wanting to backup our data in a MySQL database so we can take advantage of its back-up capabilities. So for the most part, most of the synchronization would be one way (Access to MySQL). We'd only want updated or new Access data to be updated/added to MySQL - so a standard converstion tool probably won't meet our needs. Eventually, we may want to update/add data directly to the MySQL and then update/sync the Access database(s).

If there are no free tools available, do you know of any low cost tools? How reliable are they?

Would your GIS software be able to use linked tables in the access database?

If so, you could use the MyODBC connector to create linked tables to your MySQL database in the access database and your GIS software would actually be directly editting the MySQL database by using the linked tables in the access database.

Thanks for the reply. I already tried that but for some reason it prevents the GIS software from editting the data - I receive a message stating that the database is locked for editing by a different editting session. Any other ideas?
