I am not sure if this is the correct forum to be posting this so please redirect me to the appropriate location if necessary.
I want to release a few of interpreted language scripts I have written to the public as free software. Since I have little knowledge of how licensing works, I decided to use GNU General Public License v3 after reading its summary.
What I wanted to know is if I will be able to place a copyright statement in the scripts.
Is it not necessary or contradicting what I am trying to do?
