Is it possible to install win2k in a freebsd virtual machine?

and if so how?

I've got this----

machine name% xhost +metaframe2
metaframe2 being added to access control list
machine name% rsh metaframe2 wincenter -display machine name:0

After running the above, I should get a window that I can log into states, and have a virtual NT terminal. although it is not working, any suggestions, or better/different methods

You had me wondering there for a minute, with 'freebsd virtual machine'. Apparently this is a Unix client for Citrix Winframe?

So, what you want is to be able to see a Windows2000 desktop from a Unix machine?

I am not at all familiar with MetaFrame, so I can't help you there, but there is a very easy way to get a Windows desktop on a FreeBSD machine, and vice-versa. Go to where you can download a nice little open source tool called Virtual Network Computing that lets you trade virtual desktops around like baseball cars.

Also, a lot of other interesting links pop up when you search for this at Google: -------------------------------------------

I agree with the guy above, heres the thing with VNC, its sluggish, it works, i can control my nt4 server, and win98 boxes from my Linux-Station.

There are alternatives that may cost money, and Ihavent tried yet. VMWare, and Omni.

Omni is a company you might want to look at since it most like ly applies to you. I tried their trial to connect to my nfs server from win9x machines and it worked fine. That was only for file sharing. They do have a package that allows you to do the reverse, and that is running X-Windows on top of Windows systems.

It may cost more than vnc, but being an I.T. guy, Im sure you might find capital for that, and they should have tech support for their product.

good luck...
