Friends ,

I have model design related question . Your help/comments greatly apriciated

I have below tables

F is fact , DIM is dimension tables.

Join sequence F1 --> DIM1 -->DIM2--->DIM3

Another join sequence F1 -->DIM4-->DIM5-->DIM6--DIM7

There is a join between DIM1-->DIM7

How to model this case in FM ??

thanks

Best practice is to reduce the snowflaking. In your case create a new model query subject on DIM1 -->DIM2--->DIM3 = DIM123. This way you can remodel into a proper starschema.
(ditto for other DIM set)
If you do not follow this practice a lot of benefits will be lost (multi-fact / star-schema grouping)

For reporting purposes the relationship between DIM1 and DIM7 may be superfluous. Cannot comment on this without knowing more..
