What do companies usually code now days on their web pages ....Frames or Tables? And why? And also, what percentage is javascript really used in developing pages? Thx.

It totally depends. I am surprised at the number of sites who use frames cos I was always advised not to use them.

Its better off not to use frames where possible, having said that incorrect use of tables will also slow down download times etc.

Why? they can be useful.
Why not? Download times, not all browsers support them.

As for java, it seems like 99.9% of sites use some Java, is it necessary?? NO!

Frames

Adv : Less coding (No duplication of code ie.) leading to faster download times

DisAdv : Search Engine placement is affected

Tables

Adv : Search Engine friendly

Disadv : Code is repeated in all pages leading to slower download

Use of javascript is for dynamic content. If all you need is static pages html is fine Ranjan

If you place all your scripts in external .js file and attach it to all pages of your site you don't have to repeat it every time, and there's no any slower download.

Another disadvantage of frames is more coding troubles in REALLY complex projects.
