Hi,
I have Framemaker 6.0p357 and following problem:
I received a fm-file and when i will open it framemaker-console informs me that font "EBook-SansSerif" is not available "Times New Roman" will be used, font "EBook-SansSerif Italic" is not available "Times New Roman Italic" will be used and font "Bookman DemiBold" is not available "Times New Roman Bold" will be used.
How can I import these not available fonts?
Please help me
Thanks

There's no need to import these fonts - in FrameMaker, simply:
1. Select "File, then "Preferences"
2. Click the "Remember Missing Font Names" option at the bottom of the dialog box
3. Click Set.

You will need to access each of the files in which you receive the message and re-save them with this option.

For additional info, please search the FrameMaker archives on the Adobe website.

pholwell is correct if you want to ignore the message and let FM use the font replacements. If you actually want these fonts and not the Times New Roman replacements, the only way is to purchase and install these specific fonts on your system.

I have a similar, but slightly different, problem. My OS had to be reloaded. When I opened my FM book, most of the fonts were "missing" and thus I got tons of 'font-not-found' messages. The folder containing all the requried fonts is in the same directory as the book, as it was before I reloaded the OS.

In FM, however, the names of the fonts I need are no longer listed when I select FORMAT/FONT. Obviously they are not being seen and used by the book any longer.

How do I get FM to 'see' and use these fonts again? (I was not around when they came to be in the book in the first place or I might know how to fix this.) I also have FM 6.0p537 on WIN2000.

Thanks!

Richard

You may want to try re-installing the fonts. Chances are the fonts were left in the folder when the OS was reinstalled. You can do a basic font install by selecting all fonts, moving them to another folder, and then dropping them back into the fonts folder. Instead of the normal "move/copy file" animated dialog, you should get a font installation dialog. If you still have problems, you should purchase Adobe TypeManager Deluxe and use it to first figure out what's up with your existing fonts, and to then install and manage your fonts from there.
