Hi everybody,

I have lots of clients that can't run my aplicattion (fox2.6a) anymore on XP. For no reason it stops running. Seems to blink in the screen but disappears. It starts one month ago and encreases every day. More and more clients can't use it anymore. I tested one of these machines and if I keep the process manager open I can see loader.exe (my app) and foxw2600.esl appearing as a running process in a flash but they disappear in seconds. Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

I'd appreciate any help.

Have you done a Search of this forum for your problem?
It has been discussed many times already and it is generally resolved by changing a variety of settings.

One posting you might want to look over is thread182-1166788

Good Luck,

Thank you for your help, but I couldn't find anything like this one I described. I've seen all the threads from the last year. The thread you've mentioned is about other kind of problem. Could you suggest another one?

Once again, by doing a more creative Search of the forum (i.e. searching for "FLASH XP") I found thread182-1115244

Perhaps this is closer to your problem.

Keep in mind that in spite of the reported problems possibly being somewhat different, many of the resolutions to the FP + XP problems are similar. So even if the problem is not identical, it still might be worthwhile looking over how they were resolved.

Good Luck,

thank you again. You are right. That thread is similar. It might be a lack of memory problem, but does FPW need _*.pif files?

A Program Information File (PIF) dates back to the early versions of Windows. Basically, it's an information file that when you click on it the information in the file is used by Windows to run some program

As the definition above indicates, the .PIF file is what was used to launch the FP program. It was the predecesor to today's .LNK (shortcut) file.

There are a lot of other previous postings on getting old FP programs to run under XP. You should look them over because once you get the "flash" problem resolved, you might still encounter one of those problems. Having a full "tool-box" of problem resolutions on-hand is never a bad thing.

Good Luck,
