Hi,

Hope someone can help me cos I'm feeling pretty clueless...

I'd like to use some FrontPage components on my website, to save myself some time (that was the initial plan anyway!). However, I'm having a few problems. When I use the hit counter, for example, it just doesn't appear on the site (I get the "missing image" image). A "count file" has been created in the _private folder, though it stays at 0. I believe I installed Front Page Extensions correctly (all the files and folders appear to be there) so I'm not quite sure what's going wrong...

I thought it might be because instead of "Publishing" my web pages I've been mapping a drive to the server and saving files onto the web that way. So I tried Publishing, but I keep getting an error message saying that "The server cannot complete my request and that I should check that the server has FP Extensions Installed. I installed them this morning!!!!! (whether I installed them properly or not is a different matter I guess!)

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong...

Thanks a lot,

Is everything up-to-date on your server? Specifically, assuming you're on Windows 2000 Server and IIS5, have you fully updated all patches?

If not, do so immediately (for more reasons than this problem.)

Then (or if you already have updated) delete the Web from IIS and create a new site. Then add FPSE 2000 to it in IIS. Then upgrade the FPSE to 2002 (non-SharePoint.) Then republish and probably your troubles will be behind you.
