FP 2003 cell format task pane cannot select header 1

I want to insert headers into the cells of my table, but when I click the target cell, then click on Task Pane>Cell Header and Footer, the Show Header and Show Footer options both remain shaded and cannot be selected. What am I missing here (besides a few million brain cells) ???

Hi sandwedger,
for some reason, maybe someone else can explain, the only time you can edit the Header and Footer is when you create the cell by using the 'Layout Tables and Cells' tool rather than using the insert table from the menu bar.
Just go to Table -> Layout Tables and Cells. Then on the Task pane chooes either Insert Layout Tble or Insert Layout Cells
This should get you through
