FP 2002 Problems Linking to pages in folders 1

When I type in links to pages in folders they disappear on upload. I moved the pages to the main folder and now all the links work. Why am I unable to link to pages in other folders? I have gone in and re-writtent the html code to make sure the href link is correct. I have even set it up to link with the full http link and still nothing works. I appreciate any help I can get.

when working with a web make sure that you layout your dirs and files exactly how it will be on the server and it should then retain paths for you...(maybee) Aaron Taylor

It sounds like you might have created your Web site in a folder as opposed to a Web. In order for the hyperlinks to work properly, they have to be in a Web. A Web is basically a type of folder that compartmentalizes all the files. If it's just a regular hard drive folder, the hyperlinks won't work right.

The easiest way to tell if it's a Web is open FrontPage. From the menu bar, select File>Open Web. See if the directory where you Web site has an icon of a folder with a globe in it. If it does, that means it's a Web.

If it looks like a folder, then it's not a Web. The quickest fix to create a new empty web (File>New>Page or Web>Empty Web) and import all your pages into it. You'll probably need to fix all the links, but once you do, you'll be done.

Thanks to both of you for your response. Garridon was correct in that my folder did not have the web icon. I moved all my files to my XP web folder and everything seems to work correctly. Thanks for your help. It's amazing how much more I learn by asking rather than looking all over the web for answers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
