I downloaded the files from M$. I have read the M$ installation guide. But does anyone have a good step by step installation procedure? The M$ guide doesn't state what files go where

OK, this is where I sit. I got fp_install.sh to run. It now stops at "Where is the current apache deamon located: [/usr/local/apache/sbin/httpd]"

I hit enter and it comes back with the same thing. So the apache deamon is not located there, but I do a file search and I can't find it either.

Any ideas?

I know that apache is running, I can go to 192.168.1.200 and it bring up the default web page.

Here's some info that may help. I am running Mandrake-Linux V8.2 and Apache 1.323. I installed Apache during the Linux install and I used Webmin to set up Apache.

I had the same problem as you. M$'s guide was very vague and incomplete. To answer your question, use this...

/usr/local/apache/bin/apachectl

I'm about to post my own question about FP Ext. and Apache. I have it working, but I need a few questions answered about it.

Sorry, but I could be wrong in the above post. It might be this instead (I can't remember and I couldn't find it anywhere online)...

/usr/local/apache/bin/httpd

I think that apachectl is just a script to start/stop/restart the httpd daemon. I hope that someone who knows what they're doing replies to this...

I just installed it again for you. Here's what I did to get it working...

1. backup /usr/local/apache

2. run the script - fp_install.sh
- make sure that the fp50.linux.tar.Z (or whatever yours is called) file is in the same directory as the script, or else it will ask where it is
- go into /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf and make sure that the "AllowOverride" is set to "Allow" on the %DocumentRoot% before running the script
- run the script like this ./fp_install.sh
- when it asks, the Apache daemon is /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd
- when it asks, the config file is /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf

I'm no FP Server Ext. or Apache expert, obviously, but this will get you up and running. I read that you don't need to install the FP Patch if you don't need your users to create new web sites remotely. They say the patch is not required and it will work perfectly without it.
