Hi,

I recently changed computer and all the "history" on my old computer in vfp is of course no longer there.

IS there anywhere that vfp stores all the "text" from the "command window"

can I copy the files that contain that info from my old cpmuter to my new computer?

please let me know

thanks,
F

Yep, the command window history is stored in _command.prg in the folder specified by HOME(7).

Tamar

This information is contained in a file call _command.prg if you can find it.

Code:
MODIFY COMMAND _command

The _Commnad.PRG is usually located in [UserProfile]\Application Data\Microsoft\Visual FoxPro [your version number]. BTW, you may also find there FoxUser and other tables with your customized environment components (i.e. your customized toolbox, etc.)

HTH.

Ilya

OK, thanks.

That worked.

Now, how do I SET SAFETY ON by default. I want to SET SAFE ON when I start up vfp.

any ideas?

thanks,
f

Have Config.FPW in your C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Foxpro [ver. #] directory (VFP's "HOME" dir) with one of the lines in it having
SAFETY=ON

BTW, you can also set some other values in Config file, like

CENTURY=ON
SAFETY=ON
DELETED=OFF
MVCOUNT=64000
CODEPAGE=1252
STATUS BAR=ON

etc., including PATH and DEFAULT

HTH.

Ilya

According to his profile "over over" marker, his IP comes from Florida USA. Although right now, Florida is colder than usual.

What's "colder", Mike? Them Floridians having 23C instead of 25C in winter (I checked on weather.com)? We in So. CA have had average daytime temperature 10F-15F lower than normal this last summer (brrrrrrrr!) - that's colder, indeed! :-(

Regards,

Ilya

I've always found that, in the depth of winter, the Floridian climate is very similar to the best of Scottish summers.

But it feels odd to see it get dark at about 6 pm, when I would otherwise be expecting another five hours of daylight.

Are you from Scotland originally, Mike? If so - we're alike in some respect: I'm originally from Leningrad (now St.-Peterburg), which is North-West Russia, and the climate there is somewhat similar to the one on the North of Britain isles. And the weather here (Southern CA) now (December) resembles typical weather in late September in the Russian Baltic North-West: cold, cloudy and drizzly. And that's "the sunniest state in the US"? ;-)

Regards,

Ilya

Ilya,

We certainly had a "chilly" (some would say mild) summer in SoCal. I planted a garden in mid-March because it was 85F, and it froze (and had to be replaced) a week later.

But then the last week of October we had that heat wave that brought the warmest day IN RECORDED HISTORY for downtown L.A.

Strange year! But while we're complaining about 60F there are parts of the country under 3 feet of snow. I'll take what we've got. ;-)

Ilya,

Normally, St Petersburg would be way colder than anywhere in the British Isles. After all, we have the Gulf Stream to keep us warm. St. Petersburgers only have the (frozen) Baltic.

But this winter has been weird. Parts of Scotland have been colder than parts of Siberia, according to some experts.

And by the way, let's send our apologies to Foxup for high-jacking his thread.

Mike
