I just purchased Foxspell for my VFP9 app. All is working well except for 1 issue.
When replacing a incorrect word, therefore editing the original text, the text returned has extra spaces between some words.
Any one else experienced this?

Hi Mike,
Yes I am following that path as well, but he says that his development stopped at VFP8. So he can't reproduce the problem.

So I was just seeing if anybody else has experienced that same issue with VFP9 and if they resolved it.

Regards

Alastair

Alastair,

I can't help with your specific problem. I can only say that there is an article on my website by a programmer who has had a lot of experience with FoxSpell. You might try contacting him to ask for advice. (See Putting Foxspell Checker to work).

That said, the article is very old. I don't know what has changed or if the person in question is up-to-date with it.

Update:
I have traced through the code and added a line using SUBSTR to remove the first character from a variable.
At this stage this is working. I will continue to bug test this and see how it goes. I have advised the author of the change.
If this proves to be a solid solution I will post the code snippit here with the authors permission.

I think I use FoxSpell myself - never experienced the problem in VFP 9 at all.

I incorporate it in all my apps, and have done for about a decade!

People don't love it, they don't like the dictionary (it's US English), but they sure as heck don't complain about having a spell checker!

I think is is probably one of the best investments I ever made in terms of 3rd party add-ons for VFP. The other being WestWind technology!

The interesting thing is I read a post with the same issue on another forum while doing a google search.
There was no solution posted, but the post was old so I left it alone.

Regarding the lack of a British English dictionary ....

The person who wrote the article I referred to said that he had got round this by putting the "different words" into a text file and appending it to the main English (US) dictionary. I can't help feeling that determining the differences would be more complicated than that, but it does show that it's do-able.

Also, I see that French, German and Spanish dictionaries are now available, so maybe there's be a British one some time as well.
