We have applications developed in Visual FoxPro 5.0a So my question is can we move to Visual FoxPro 6.0 without code changes? Has anyone done this?

Regards,

Rob

Hi Rob,

If you look at the VFP 6.0 Help file, you will see that the very first section includes a topic that tells you about compability issues between that version and the previous one.

The chances are that you'll have no problems, but you'd best check that for yourself.

As an aside, I have to question your decision to go VFP 6.0. Why not go to the latest version, which is 9.0?

Mike

There are many reasons to upgrade to a late version. Chief among them are a larger command set, numerous bug fixes, better compatibility with newer operating systems and customer demand.

Mike is right, if at all possible, upgrade to the latest version. Microsoft is phasing out support for earlier versions of Visual FoxPro and version 6, the first really popular and stable version, is no longer supported. Version 7 was better than 6, 8 was better than 7 and 9 is better than 8.
