Hi everyone,

I would like to move my app written in FPD26 Dos to a new machine P4 1.8mhz using XP Pro as a networking.

Did my app will continue to run as well as with Win98 se.?
Is it necessary to use Dual boot 98 or XP pro?

I am very appreciate to receive any comments.

thanks in advance.

Many of us have found no more problems with FPD apps under XP, than elsewhere - others have. The two areas of concern are:
1) Was the system upgraded or was it a new/clean install of XP? Upgrades seem to give more problems.

2) Does the program directly or through libraries try to directly access the hardware? This is a big no-no in NT / 2000 / XP.

Others have also reported problems with certain video cards / drivers. Often the only way to tell, is to throughly test it.

Thanks Rick,

I am very happy that you have said the app in fpd26 still working well on xp.

It's a new/clean install of Xp.

So I don't need to do dual boot for win98 and xp , is is right?

thanks again...

Hi,

I have installed XP on my machine (cleaninstall) and I am able to use FoxPro for DOS no problems.

No need for dual boot to get this working.

Good luck

VMWARE have a virtual machine that runs in XP/2000 that will allow you to do all sorts of old time things. I have 2000, 98se, 95, WFWG, Dos 6.2 and Linux all on 3 gig of a single boot HDD (for support reasons). It costs around $200-$300 but if your work is important or would cost too much to re-write, it could be the way to go.
