I have an old FoxPro 2.6 application and it can print on any dot matrix printer. The problem is i have installed a new Epson Stylus Printer and the application won't print on it. Is it because Foxpro 2.6 application not compatible with any newest deskjet printer ?

Codo,
No, there is no problem with printer compatibility. Couple of questions:

1) Do you have the right driver installed on the PC?
2) Is the printer on a network?
3) Have you tested printing other documents to the printer from other applications from that machine?

the printer can print any documents except from the foxpro application running under DOS.

So this is an FPD26 application, not FPW26?

Also, you did not answer if it is a network or local printer...

yes it is FPD26 app and the printer is USB printer and it's on local printer. I also tried on Network printer as a default printer and it still won't printing

Thx

I handle printing to USB printers from FPD26 using the utility called PrintFile. Do a google search for it. You will have to change your code to print to a file instead of the lpt1: port.

If you have a parallel port on your printer, then use that, and your problem is solved.

This may work.

Share this printer on your computer.
then issue

net use lpt2: \\computername\sharename

in dos prompt.

Then print to lpt2 from your fpd2.x application.

net use will not work if your are not connected to a network. Falify it by using a cheap hub or null Network Cable.

try it
