Fox 2.6 application runs very slow in network (under XP)

Hello everyone. I’m running fox application under XP on several computers. The applications uses one database which is on server. The problem is all PC’s receives data from database extremely slow. For example ~100 columns list is received in 2-5 seconds. I do think that much data should be received in 0.1 s or similar. Thanks in advance for replies.

This does not sound like a FoxPro problem. I have 2.6Win Apps running on XP that have 30Million+ records and do not have a speed problem.

Do not know if you have tried this first, but I would get you Network People involved and have them find the problem.

FoxPro2.6 is 15 years old, If there was a network issue, it would have surfaced long before this.

It also depends a lot on how those records are being retrieved.
For instance, if you have tons of records with some sort of SET FILTER... clause on the table, when you go to browse it there could be a monstrous delay.

How are you accumulating those records?

Hi Dovydas,

I'm running large files under Xp, from Foxpro 2.5a, with no problem.

I've experienced some speed troubles whith antivirus. If this is your case, just try to stop antivirus and check it again.

Later you will need to set up your antivirus.
