I have MM 2.0 with MSS. Someone complained to me that when forwarding a message to a mailbox with extended absence activated, the sender is not notified. Is there a way to change this, so that the sender will be aware that the recipient is out of the office? This only affects forwarding from mailbox to mailbox within the same system.

Have you verified that this is what is really happening? Or is this what the user has told you?

It does not do it on my Lab system or on one of my customers systems at 2.0

Ken, thanks for the reply.

I just completed a test. I set my extended absence, and had someone else forward a message to me from their mailbox. The system just played my name, as it would any other time. No extended absence greeting was heard.

Any other info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What service pack are you on and patch level ?

Mike that is the way the system works. The name prompt is confirmation of the address you specified and does not represent whether the destination mailbox has their extended absence greeting on or not.

The only way you would know if a mailbox has an extended absence greeting active is if you were to call that extension/mailbox like a normal caller, or do a quick message to that mailbox. In those two cases you would hear whatever greeting is active for that particular mailbox.
