I am not sure how to word this, but here is the issue.
I work for a not-for-profit organization that has afilliated offices in 3rd world countries. One of the offices in Ghana, connects to the internet using a satelite link. Their DNS records are hosted by an ISP that is not common to both of us. The satelite link has been down since Monday, with an unknown resolution date. Their ISP has informed them that after one more day they will start purging emails destined to their Exchange server/domain since their Exchange server cannot communicate on the internet at the moment.
With that in mind they wanted to find out, if we (Exchange 2003 environment) could setup something in our location where, their ISP could forward email for their domain to our email server, and we can then in-turn store the email probably in a single mailbox which they can dial-up and collect the email from this mailbox on our server and distribute it accordingly. Is this feasible? If it is not feasible, does anyone have any suggestions? We would like to avoid having to create email accounts for the users concerned on our system, if that were necessary. Can an ISP forward email destined for a specific domain to a named sigle mailbox? I am sure we can create a 2nd MX record (higher cost than primary) that points to our email server, but if we did that, how will our email server know what to do with this email? Can Exchange 2003 be configured to hold this email in a single mailbox or hold the email for a defined amount time before it forwards it to the 'home' server?
By the way the 2 domains in question are completely different.
