Hi everyone,
This problem realtes more to Outlook but so many of us are using Outlook as the email client on our SQL Server machines and needing to send automated email notifications from SQL server.
We had been fighting a wicked problem on our SQL Server 2000 machine. We could not send email - whether we opened up Outlook 2000 and sent an email manually OR whether we sent an email thru SQL Agent / xp_sendmail .... it always failed or sometimes it hung.
2 error messages we received:
- "No transport provider was available for delivery to this recipient"
- "host mail.acbcoop.com was not found"
I went round 'n round on this problem.. checking that the correct services were running, reconfiguring the mail settings and profiles.
**********************************************************
All along, the cause was that Microsoft Proxy Client 2.0 had not been installed on this server.
**********************************************************
Maybe this will help someone else.
John
