Found.000 directory being created

I am running WinNT 4.0 workstation over a T1 WAN. I have a Client whos PC continually receives BSOD, at least twice a day. While troubleshooting I discovered a directory named found.000 located on his root drive. This is not a user created directory. Upon inspection of this directory I
discovered subdirectories which hold program files (such as Oracle) that are not directly installed on this workstation, but on a network server. I ran WinNT's version of scandisk and it discovered and fixed numerous errors. When the system booted up again the same directory was created yet, it held IE 5 files??? Has anyone ever experienced this phenomenom and if so might you have a cure? Thanks in advance.

I believe the found.000 directory is created by the checkdisk utility that runs on NT boot after an error condition. The files in that directory are the files created from "lost clusters" In my experience, if you are not missing any files, and things seem to work, it's safe to delete the folder.

I agree with dm7941. Found.000 is created from scandisk. You need to be figuring out why the machine is getting BSOD before you start losing important files.

When that was happening to me on the Win98 level, I found it to be my hard disk was starting to fail... and eventually it did!

I fortunately was able to backup all my data before it bit the dust!

Just something to think about...
