I have a computer that shuts down after about 2 minutes. I noticed two folders, one named found.000 and the other found.001. I can't seem to get rid of them and have reason to believe that they are the cause of my problems. I've tried Killbox to delete the folders on reboot, but it didn't work. They always come back. Is this a spyware/virus? Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance!

if memory serves these are usually created by CHKDSK, a Windows utility that runs to check the hard drive, often after an unexpected shutdown / stop.

...and have reason to believe that they are the cause of my problems

What problems are you experiencing (other than the shutdown)?
What reasons have you for considering them the source of the problem?
Can you startup in safe mode? If so, does the shutdown still happen? Can you provide us with any event log errors please?

I'll check back later for your answers when I get home..

Well I thought the folders caused my problems b/c I'd never seen them before. I tried starting in safe mode and it gets stuck at the "hit ctrl alt delete" to login. Here are the tow errors that keep shoing up in the event log:

Windows cannot determine user or computer name. Return value (1722)

and

(a warning)
WMI ADAP was unable to process the performance libraries 0x80041001

Thanks for your help!

Well,

this kinda sounds like you will 1.) experience a Hard Drive crash very soon OR 2.) your Windows has been totally corrupted by either a Virus, bad IDE cables, or Windows itself...

to clarify point 1.) You get stuck at the POST part of the IDE drive recognition and it wont go further, or you can start at times and then get stuck or reboot...

If it works don't fix it! If it doesn't use a sledgehammer...

Based on the information available, I'd concur with BadBigBen.

Just a suggestion, but you could try stripping the machine back to basics (ie Master Drive only). If you can boot in that state, I'd slave the drive to another machine (if available), scan for infection and backup that data.
