Forwarding messages to an external pop3 system

I have done this in the past with SBS 2k but now I am trying to get this system up on a standard 2k organization. I have created the AD account, created the contact within AD with the appropriate POP3 email account, and set the forwarding of emails from the primary account to the contact. I keep getting a undeliverable response from the server, I can't even send a message directly to the contact from the exchange server.

Any suggestions?

Thanks....

Jim

Can you ping the other server? If so, check the DNS by using nslookup.

The DNS is correct, but I am going against Microsoft's recommendation. I have both Outlook 2002 and Exchange 2k running on the same box along with Terminal Services. Long story, but necessary. Exchange will not send an internal email from a AD user to an AD contact. Not sure why. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

You're lucky Exchange isn't complaining. NEVER put Outlook on the same box running Exchange!

I am not sure that is isn't. I am aware of the MAPI conflicts between Exchange and Outlook. Both seem to be doing their jobs but I have the problem of trying to forward an email to an external email via an AD contact.
