Looking for either confirmation that this cannot be done or a way to complete our goal. We have a BCM400 4.0 that we are programming for a customer. They currently are using only 4 analog ports off the GASM8, 4 digital ports off the DSM32+ and 4 trunk ports off the GATM8. They have an external (ATEB) IVR that connects to the 4 analog ports. They would like to have line 1 ring to the first IVR port, line 2 to the 2nd, and so on....then the IVR transfers to a hunt group that includes all 4 digital ports. This part is not a problem. The problem is the backup scenario in case the IVR is down. The IVR picks up on 3 rings so we set the analog ports to forward no answer after 4 rings to the hunt group DN. What I am seeing is this does not work....the line stops ringing on the analog port after 4 rings but does not ring the hunt group. I am able to answer the call and manually transfer (flash, *70) to the hunt group with no problem, but forward no answer does not work.

I know that's a lot of info so please let me know what does not make sense....but, bottom line is can you forward an external call to a hunt group DN using forward no answer?

Thanks for any input....

Actually, I had tried that but the system will not allow a hunt group DN to be used as a prime set for a trunk...

Try this, set the 4 Analog Stations (IVR) in Hunt Group 1 with Lines assigned. Then set the Digital Stations in Hunt Group 2. Then overflow HG 1 to HG 2 and see what happens.

I agree with that setup and it will work that way, unfortunately, the customer wants a 1:1 ratio with the lines so that line 1 only rings to the first IVR port and so on... A hunt group would distribute the call to the first available port. If there is absolutely no way around it we will probably end up with the dual hunt group scenario, I was just curious if anybody had seen this and knew how to get around it... Obviously a true 'delayed ring' would be perfect in this situation but since Nortel does not offer it, I am stuck trying to figure out an alternative way.

Thanks for the replies!!!

Ok what if you set it up like you have it. Then Forward no Answer to an extension that is not in use. Put an Answer DN of that extension on the phones that need to answer the call.

Try setting up 4 hunt groups, one for each analog IVR line. Have calls from the PSTN go directly to the hunt groups. Make the first member of each hunt group the IVR analog line. Then enter the extensions you planned to use as a backups to the IVR line as 2nd, 3rd, etc. members.
