I have a client who has a Merlin Legend with Intuity Audix. They have 8 DID lines and the problem is that they get a bunch of calls at once that need to be handled by two people. One person has the extension matching the primary number of the DID trunks. At first they had a cover button on the 2nd person's phone but they complained they couldn't hear the call coming in.

What I did most recently was to put in a Radio Shack Fone Flasher 2 that was setup as the extension of the first person and I changed their extension to something else. Now when the calls come in the flasher flashes and rings and either one picks up the call.

That is working great except that at night they want voice mail to answer and during the day for it to just ring and ring.

What I did was to remove vm coverage for the extension of the ringer unit and gave the new extension voice mail.

However, I can't think of a way to forward the calls for the ringer to that extension at night for voice mail coverage.

I just saw another forum reminding me about extension - delay forward. Would that do the trick?

I would do it this way:

Change the PERSON back to theier extension, change the FLASHER to an extension that COVERS the PERSON.

Put a VMS CoverOff button on the PERSON's PHONE.

Have them activate that VMS CoverOff button.

It can do this for you:

Coverage VMS off prevents outside calls and private network calls from being sent to voice mail. With Coverage VMS off, only inside calls are covered by the assigned voice mail system Calling Group. Outside calls go to any other points of coverage. To use this feature, the sender must have a programmed Coverage VMS button.

-AND-

If the Coverage VMS button is active and lit, the Night Service with Coverage Control option turns it off.

What is the best way to setup the flasher to cover the person's extension? If I were to simply dial the feature code from a phone connected to where the flasher goes would that be lost when the system loses power for whatever reason?

The flasher is connected to a single line extension port, which has its own extension number. When you go in to Centralized Telephone Programming, it appears as if it were a regular multi-line telephone. So, just put a cover "button" on it for the extension it is to ring along with.
