I have a user who has a rule setup to forward all mail he recieved in Outlook 2007 to his vzw.blackberry.net address.
When messages arrive, forward to <user>@vzw.blackberry.net, if <username> is in To: or CC: field. (Obviously <user> and <username> are the verizon username and outlook username)
Most of the time this rule works without fail, outlook open or not (Cashed mode is off). Every once in a while a few emails will fail to be forwarded. I've looked at the culprit email and I notice nothing that breaks the rule. The users name is either in the To: or CC: field on the failed mail. I've checked the tracking log in Exchange and I can see the email arrive to the Exchange account. I can see other email that was forwarded to the blackberry by the rule both before and after the failed email. I can see email that was successfully forwarded by the rule from the same sender. I've checked event viewer to see if there are any error events for exchange at the time of the failure. No problems there at all. Actually my events are showing only one warning and no errors, in the past month.
I asked the sender to do a "resend" in outlook to see if the same mail that failed to forward would fail to forward a second time, and it did. I checked the email to make sure the user was in To: or CC: like the rule states. His name was first on the CC: line with 3 other people. I checked two other emails which failed to forward for similarities to this resent email but I find none that are visible. In one of the failed emails the user is on the To: line. Another his username in by itself on the CC: line. Attachments occur in some of the failed emails but not all. One thing I noticed is that it seems to be Replies that are not being forwarded, but not because of the "RE:" in the subject line. I asked the sender to do a third "resend" from outlook, but this time removing the "RE:" from the subject line. It still failed to forward. Is there something in Outlook or Exchange that doesn't allow a rule to forward a reply? Does anyone have any other ideas for me?
Thanks
