The situation that I have is a Manager and secretary type conditions but need to be able to do the following on a 3300 embedded voice mail.

Call comes in on a manager's phone, if the manager is busy or no answer then the call is routed to the secretary and the following options can occur;
1. If it gets answered then the secretary has the option of manually writing the message down to give to the manager at a later time.(not that high tech I know, but some like to still do that!)
2. The secretary has the ability to ask the caller if they would like to leave a message via a voice mail into the managers voice mail inbox by then pressing a key on their secretary's phone which it would then reroute or transfer the call to the manager's voicemail inbox.

3 If there no answer at the secretary's phone then it just gets routed to a reception desk which would handle the call.

I've heard this CAN be done by using the console I know but can it be done via an ip phone?namely 5215 or something larger with enough keys to be assigned to do this.

My thoughts were to use form of speedcall which dials the voicemail hunt group then step back up the voice mail menu via the * or # key (can't remember which one) then dials the manager's voicemail box to leave a message in!

Would just like to know if anybody has tried this somewhere and what other options could I also consider to implement something similar in funtion to this scenario!

Thanks for any input or information whoever replies!

You can program a speed dial to do this.

if the users that is forwarding the call to v/m has a mailbox (in which case v/m will prompt them to enter their own security code) your speed dial should be:
(VM Pilot) PPP * P # (EXT NUMBER to leave msg for)
NOTE- number of pauses are estimates - but are currently in use on another 3300

otherwise if the user can call v/m pilot and hear the main greeting, they should simply be able to dial # and then be prompted to enter the mailbox number of the user they want to leave a message for (Speed dial should probably have at least 1 pause before entering # and ext number)

There was a Mitel bulletin for "How To" for the voicemail direct key. I believe the key sequence is *+Ext (but it might be #+Ext. Regardless, the solution is to create a hunt group/Phantom ext/Key App with the digit string # or * + ext and route the hunt group Always to VM. You may need to experiment which device type best suits your scenario but the integration is seamless without pauses.

With respect to the call flow on the secretary picking up the call you will need to setup the first alternative re-routing to the Secretary and the second Alternative to the console DN. If forwarding on the Secretary is set it may override the re-routing.

How to set up so you can transfer directly to a voice mail greeting Publish Date
Apr-18-2006

Description/Symptoms
In order to transfer a caller directly into a mailbox user's greeting the following can be programmed.

Body/Solutions
For a typical transfer to a mailbox, a user has to go through the following keystrokes:
i> press the Transfer button
ii> dial the Voicemail Hunt Group number, followed by # key
iii> then the required mailbox number

To minimize the number of keystrokes for the transfer and to streamline the transfer, we have 2 possible solutions:

Note: It is just a matter of choice for solution A or B.

Solution A : using a voice hunt group

System Administrator must set up a voice hunt group *nnnn (where nnnn is the extension number) for each mailbox to be automated as follows:

a> Create a Voice hunt group of *nnnn where nnnn is the users mailbox/extension number and the Hunt group type for *nnnn must be Voice (not Phantom).

b> Call reroute always the new hunt group to the vmail pilot number.

From the 3300 end users perspective, end user can transfer the call directly to a mailbox as follows:
a> press the Transfer button
b> dial *nnnn ( eg. *1234)

Result: The external caller who can get transferred by 3300 end user will hear the user's greeting directly. Step i and ii ( from normal transfer scenario) are combined into one step of dialling *nnnn

Solution B: Using a phantom phone with PKM

System Administrator must set up a phantom phone with PKM and program as follows;
a> On each PKM key, assign a single line key with number *nnnn where n is the extension number
b> In Call rerouting assignment form, call reroute always each line *nnnn to the vmail pilot number
