Can I give someone a virtual extension and have that forwarded to his cell phone?

For example he will not have a phone but he will have an extension that will forward to his cell phone!!!

Thanks

Only 2 ways to accomplish:

Use an IP Client and set telephone to "Keep Alive"

Use an analog port on an ASM or ATA.

I think u could also set up a guest mailbox and enable outbound transfer.

It's not seamless, the callers would have to press "7", but it is an option I should have included.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I knew about the mailbox with an outbound transfer but was hoping there was a better option.

Oh well...

There is an easy option, but it depends on the type of trunks you use.
If you have DID's you can turn this call around and send it right back out to the users cell phone.
It doesn't need to ring a phantom/virtual set.

The method above assumes your target lines have an option to allow you to redirect it within the target line programming..

However, you can do it this way as well.. Any DID inbound on any type of trunk will work...

1) Remove the received digits from assigned target line
2) Change any DNs that match the received digits
3) Assign all DID trunks to use Remote Access Package 5
4) Allow Remote Access Package 5 to access your outbound trunks. They can be the same group of trunks that brings in your DID, or other trunks.
5) Create a Route to dial out the phone number you want the call to forward to on the same outbound trunks that you allowed in step 4.
6) Create a Destination Code of the received digits, then program that Dest Code to access the route you created in step 5. Insure you set Absorb to ALL.

That should do it.. The manual shows you how to do this, but it is showing how to setup a DID to go to another system and not back out onto the PSTN.

Also, this will allow users on the system to dial the extension (if the received digits match the extension number) and reach the user at his/her forwarded location...

let us know how it works!!
