Hi!

I have recently taken over administration of our Mitel 3300ICP and have been landed with a really nice problem.

A user has a handset (5215) and they want one of the buttons programmed on it to route all calls automatically to their mobile phone. (i.e. if the button is on, calls are forwarded, if it is off, then calls follow the normal route of ringing the phone and then transferring to voicemail)

I am able to setup the button to call forward but I can only seem to do this for internal extension numbers and not general numbers.
I will admit I'm fairly new to the 3300 but I seem to have found my way to doing most things with it without the need to call out the supplier of the system. As this is not too critical, I want to hopefully do it myself.

If it's important, the software is 7.0.
Any help is most appreciated!!

Thanks
Steve

put the mobile number in question in the system speeddial.
then program the forward destination as the speedcall instead of the entire mobile number.

this should do the trick

Take a look at user manual for your 5215. There is a transfer option under <Superkey> menu. You can enter it directly from the set and enable/disable with the button.

Thanks for the fast response guys!

I will try programming the set directly when I'm next at the site (not for another week unfortunatly)
I've just downloaded the user guide for the phone as I know I dont have one in the office.

Fingers crossed I can get it to work, I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks
Steve

I'm positive that you will be able to make it work. Besides that OPS manager can help you to preconfigute this forwarding for your users.

If you use a speedcall to activate the forwarding, you will need another to de-activate the forwarding.

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you guys about this, been a bit hectic here recently.

I have managed to setup a button on the handset to forward whenever the button indicator is lit (was pretty easy actually) but I am still having problems actually adding the number to forward to.
I have tried setting it using the Desktop Admin tool on the controller but is tells me there was an error with the number. I have also tried adding the number directly to the handset using the Superkey menu but this also tells me the number is invalid.

I'm a bit as to a loss as what to do next. I guess I need to either make a speeddial of some sort or an extension that acts like the mobile number.
Your thoughts are much appreciated!

Steve

the number could be invalid for several reasons.

1 - Did you enter it including the ARS access code (usually 9)

2 - Does the phone COS have call forward External enabled

3 - Does the trunk COS have public trunk to public trunk enabled.

(coincidently, I am talking to tech support right now on a related issue)

We have an interesting PIN code dialing system here where a user must enter a four digit number before pressing 9 to get an outside line. I have tried combinations of with PIN and 9, with just 9 and the number on its own, same error unfortunatly.

The other two I will have to check back on as I'm away from the site again.

Thanks
Steve

Using account codes is a very important piece of the puzzle.

If the phone is restricted from calling otherwise:

When entering the destination, the dialed digits must include the feature access code for account codes, a valid account code, 9, and then the number dialed.

Alternatively, you should be able to enter a system speed call number and check the "overrides toll control" box and then forward to the system speed call.

Thanks for the help kwbmitel!

I dropped in on the site today and managed to create a system speed call for the users mobile number. I also had to change the class of service for the handset to enable call forward to external number, not sure why the install guys would disable that but hey. After doing this I was finally able to set call forwarding on the handset and all is well!

I do have a final question although I can probably guess the answer. Now I have set call forward always for this speed dial, am I able to set a second call forward always to a different speed dial? I ask because now the user has it he also wants the ability to switch to a different persons mobile number. Only one would be active at a time (this is kinda obvious) but am I actually able to set it up in the first place?

Again many thanks to you kwbmitel and everyone else who has helped me with this.

Steve

The answer to your last question is "maybe". It depends on your customer. You can set up the system speed call to activate forwarding to specific destinations. By dialing different speedcalls, the destination will change and activate. the forward key on the set can be used to deactivate and activate the most recent destination.

the speed call would contain the FAC for forward All and the dialed number.

If we don't take care of the customer, Maybe they'll stop bugging us.
