SO I have access to three machines one in cali one in NYC and one in Amsterdam.

the machine in cali cannot see the machine in Amsterdam however the machine in NYC can see both.

Is there a way to export DISPLAY from the machine in Amsterdam to my home box in cali??

could you define a variable like run export DISPLAY=NYC:1
and tell the NYC box that it meant to forward all info to :1 to Cali:0??

Thanks :)

You could try setting up a script on NYC to run a remote shell in Amsterdam to capture DISPLAY then rsh from your box and pass it to yourself.

Note; if the following is run on NYC: -

rsh amsterdam echo $DISPLAY > /tmp/display.tmp

and this on cali: -

rsh NYC cat /tmp/display.tmp ">" /tmp/display.tmp

This will echo DISPLAY on Amsterdam but direct the output to NYC then when the cali job runs it will pass the output to cali as putting "" around the redirect std output sign redirects the output to the local machine.

Note: you can invoke the rsh script on NYC with a rsh script on cali.
