I cant seem to figure out how to forward an email sent to a user on our postfix box to another email account like aol.

I know how to forward it to another user that is located on the same machine using aliases.

It seems like it should be an easy process.

thanks in advance

Create .forward in users home directory containing the address to forward to.

can you explain a little more. It seems strange that you cannot use the postfix program to do this. And what is .forward?

if you know how to set the aliases then this is the same just instead of

forwardeduser: useralias

enter

forwardeduser: user@anotherdomain.com

or with the .forward file, as Morsing already posted, in the users home directory create a file called .forward and insert there as many addresses as you want forward this email to, each on a separate line

thanks for the help! it seems piti's example suits my needs better.
