hi i have written a simple email filter using mail audit. After i created a .forward file in my home directory i no longer recieved any emails. a typical error message looked like this
the following address has permanent fatal errors
"|/bin/filter"
reason:service unavailable
smrsh:filter not available for sendmail programs

Do you have any ideas?

I think you have to use your .procmailrc for that. .forward only takes simple email addresses.

I don't know much about procmail.do i have to create that file or just edit it?

Just create it. It should be there if you haven't created it before.

I don't think the procmailrc will work bacause i am not using procmail to filter my email. Any other ideas?

.procmailrc will only filter incoming message
and it is easyly done with it.
just each user have to create its own .procmailrc
go through man page of it, it describe all the thing
