Forward extension, dealing with Voicemail 2

An employee has been terminated; we forward their extension to someone else. However, if that someone else doesn't pick up, the caller is left in the terminated person's voicemail. What's the common solution for this problem with IP Office 6 ?

Voicemail Pro, make a leave action for the terminated employee to leave message in the someone else's mailbox.

Embedded voicemail, make a short code that is Dial Extension to the someone else's extension, and forward the terminated employee's extension to the short code
 
Other alternatives
1) reprogram the DDI to call reception/hr/wherever untill a new member of staff is assigned
2) change the VM greeting to a repeating loop (save with 4 instead of 3) advising callers of the new number to ring.

In my opinion Option 1 is usually the best - especially as you have already tried diverting the extn.
