I have followed all the instructions in the AVAYA manual and I can get the EXT to say that its been forwarded outside, however when called the call rings a few times then the the operator comes on and tell me to hang up and dial again...this is an outside operator from the phone company I think.

I hit SA button, *33 + 9 + * + outside number + #.... did I do anything wrong? I also went into system programming and set it to allow forwarding from the desired extension. Any ideas?

There is no "*" after "9" in the sequence - just the full outside number followed by the "#" sign.

Well, 9 would be appropriate if you have to normally dial 9 to get an outside line.

So tell us what happens without the 9.

Merlinman - I meant there is no need for the * symbol after the 9. The 9 is necessary.

Well, the STAR could be used INSTEAD of the 9 if you have Centrex.

Otherwise, I will clean my glasses...
