Hi,

I think this is a simple one, but even though I've done this before I can't find the answer today.

I've got a L500 type analogue extension which is a fax & I need to forward it to another internal extension.

The TN is as follows -

I thought I just did added a FTW FDN 3255 to forward it to x3255 but that didn't work.
Also currently the fax just gives an engaged tone when rung, hence the need to divert it. Can you see anything that would be causing this?

That looks like it worked, just awaiting the user confirming it.

Thanks for the help.

Why would you have a fax programmed as a phantom in the first place?

I have no idea. It was all setup when I took over with zero experience or training.

Could the fact it's a phantom explain why it doesn't work when not diverted?

A phantom means just that, it only exists in software, no hardware. So it will never work as a real fax machine.

Can I change a phantom to a real extension? or would I have to create a whole new thing & if so how do you deal with moving the DN over?

You would need to out the phantom and build it on a hardware equipped analog TN.

Thanks, I thought that might be the answer.

I'll look for a guide setting up analogue phones, as I'm sure it's been asked hundreds of times & google can tell me without wasting all your time.

Analog Line carDs position

LD 117
INV GENERATE CARDS

INV PRT CARDS

Easiest thing to do is find an analog like you want and do a set copy. It will copy everything except the TN and DN

Can I reuse the same TN on the new set?
My understanding of it is they are only analogue & digital, there is no group of them for phantom sets.

No, the TN now is a phantom. You need to find a TN that is not a phantom. Hardware equipped. Do you have other analog sets? If so print one out and find the TN. Then do a STAT on that card and see if there are any unused TN's on that card or any other analog cards you may have.

We do have other analogue sets setup, I'll take a look for one and have a go.

How do I STAT the card? I know about LUDN and LUVU but that's all.

LUVU will do the trick. Statting the card requires you to do this

LD 32

stat 4 0 1

for example where 4 is the loop, 0 is the shelf and 1 is the card slot.

What is the purposeof forwarding in your original post?
Are you forwarding to Callpilot or some other fax server?

StanleySteamer - The department moved buildings a few times over the years & the fax has been forwarded to follow them. I'm not sure why this was done, but I think the last building they were in uses a separate phone system.

If I out the set & copy a working existing one is there anything else that needs doing to link the analogue line to the fax? or is it that simple?

I'm asking to make sure it's 100% in my mind before I start as it's a busy fax receiving medical referrals.

Okay, then your original post implies that the end user has a working fax line 3255 at their new location and they need the fax line 3407 forwarded to 3255 so they can receive faxes for both numbers. If that is what you need then my original reply still applies.

If the end user does not have any fax line at their new location then you can out the phantom TN and copy a working TN like KCFLHRC explained. BUT you will have to physically connect the new analog TN through to a jack at the new location and plug in the fax machine.

Thanks for clearing that up.

x3407 is a fax line & is the phantom I posted earlier. It's now forwarded to x3255 which is another fax in the building so they can receive their faxes.

I'll speak to the blokes who go out to site about the jack etc to see if they'll know what needs doing there.
