Our phpBB forum was hacked into recently, and while the data itself is uncorrupted in the tables, I cannot get the database connection to work properly now. The templates all come up but only get the general error statement:

"Sorry, but this board is currently unavailable. Please try again later."

I deleted and re-entered all the user accounts, and modified the phpBB2/config.php file to read the new account, but still get nothing.

Also, the title of the form templates now reads "4535::", which we presume is the possible port of brute forced entry. Ideas that would save me from reinstalling all the templates from scratch?

...saving from installing from scratch?

I would wipe out and reinstall the entire PHP code from the most recent build of phpBB and follow all security advisories from phpBB.com. If your system was compromised, how do you know that the fellow did not leave malicious code on your server?

Why is everyone in this forum responding to me as picklefish?
