Probably because idiots like Goat604 post to it trying to advertise online casinos.

ps: 6.0 did have "echoin" :) and "echo". Echo wasn't a defined function though.

And, there was a bug with echoin but it was based on how you formated the rule using it. Don't remember the specifics though.
