I searched on this, but couldn't find anything.
Can I take a formula and make it a parameter in CR 8.5?
Basically what has happened is, I have an Access database with dates in it, Crystal thinks it's a string, so I wrote a formula to make it a date. But in the report I need the user to select a range of dates (the parameters). Is this going to work?

A date field in Access generally shows as a date in Crystal, so there's a fundamental problem here I think.

You can pass strings to an Access database using the report->edit selection formula->Record using the totext() function, which can be used to convert the date parameters in Crystal to a string, however the format of the field is critical.

Right click the field in Crystal and select browse data, it will show it's data type.

It shows it as type string, length 50. In access it's diffently defined as a date.

What version of Access, and what connectivity are you using?

It works fine here using CR 8.5 and an ODBC connection.

Changed it to use ODBC...which helped a little. Now if I put in a date range say 1/1/2002 - 8/1/2002 it brings up all that data plus the 2003 data in that date range too. It's not distinguishing the parameters it looks like.
