Formula for counting records within a group

Hi. Is there a formula for counting records within a group where the count starts over for each new grouping?

Just use a Running Total field and set Type of Summary to count and under Reset select On Change of Group and select the group.

Now place the field in the Group Footer.

It's actually a group within a group that I want to number and have the number start back at one for the smaller group. The running total works fine for the bigger group (i.e. in numbers the records from 1 to whatever), but how about the smaller group?
